At today's State of Unreal we had our latest look at The Witcher IV, following its full reveal at The Game Awards 2024.
The upcoming title is the sequel to one of the biggest games of last generation, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. The Witcher 4 will feature Ciri as the protagonist character, in one of the most anticipated games in the industry.
Witcher 4 tech demo gameplay trailer
The Witcher 4 will run on Unreal Engine 5. Today's gameplay tech demo footage showcases some of the technology that will power the game.
In the stunning new footage, running at 60fps on a base PS5 we see Ciri taking her horse for a ride through a stunning mountainous area, followed by a visit to a bustling town. The power of Unreal Engine 5 is showcased in incredible detail as NPCs are interacting with one another in the background unlike anything we’ve seen from CD Projekt Red before.
Visually, the game looks remarkable. Characters, environments and prop assets all look meticulously created. The trailer ends on a mild cliffhanger with Ciri riding off after a flying beast.
Fan favourite, Geralt will not be the main lead for the game but we already know that he will feature in the game. We know that The Witcher 4 is the current core focus for CD Projekt Red, with over 400 developers working on the title. Although, the studio are working on a new Cyberpunk game and other projects.
This is the first confirmation that The Witcher 4 will be a current-gen console title. It is not officially confirmed but expected that the game will also launch on Xbox Series X/S. A PC release is inevitable.
A release window for The Witcher 4 is unknown.
