You ever wish you could be apart of the cool kids club and be in a fantasy football league? Yeah, me too. But I know absolutely nothing about the sport. However, I know a lot about video games. To my surprise, a thing called Fantasy Critic exists! A group of us within Gamer Social Club wanted to play it and get you, the reader involved! To get involved, join the Discord group HERE.
How to Play
To gain points in fantasy critic, a player must draft a game in to their publishing team that they believe will score higher than 70% on open critic. For every percentage over 70%, you gain a point, higher than 90%, and the points double. However, if the game scores below 70% you will start getting points negated.
There are 7 of us that created publishers. Each of us drafted 5 games per person. We can draft up to 8 by bidding on games throughout the year. Maybe a game that hasn’t been announced or a game we simply just couldn’t squeeze in to our initial draft. We each have $100 through out the year to spend bidding. A minimum of 10 dollars must be placed to bid on a game. This lands the total size of each publisher to 8 games a year.
We also get to counter pick 1 game each in fantasy critic. Counter picking is where each player must pick a game on someone else’s list that they think might not score well. For example, Geoff picked Fable in his draft and Lady V counter picked it. If it scores an 80% on open critic over the 70% it needed for him to gain points, then he gains an extra 10 point ad Lady V loses 10 points. If it scored 60%, then Lady V would be the one gaining 10 points.
What Can Be Drafted in Fantasy Critic?
There are a lot of different types of games that release every year. Not all of them are brand new. So voting on a remaster of GTA 5 would be easy points to grab. We created a list of banned games and games that are allowed to be drafted. So what is allowed and not allowed?
