Balatro Reaches Milestone Sales Number

In the world of roguelikes and deck-building games, one game has truly come out on top in both areas – Balatro. Earlier today, Balatro‘s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced that the game had reached a whopping 5 million units sold, a huge milestone for any indie developer.

Balatro, developed by solo developer LocalThunk, and released in early 2024 across most gaming platforms, made big waves during the December 2024 Game Awards. The digital card game claimed the awards for Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Mobile Game, as well as nominations for Best Game Direction and the lucrative Game of the Year award.

Along with the announcement, there was continued encouragement for gamers around the world to pick up indie titles and support these smaller developers and publishers.
