Sony is making sure to get this out there prior to the May 16th PC launch of Ghost of Tsushima. After this past weekends debacle with Helldivers 2, Sony wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again. For those who may have missed it, Sony issued a statement saying that all Helldivers 2 PC players would have to create a PlayStation network account in order to keep playing that game. Might not have been a big issue for some but for the countries that PSN does not support it would have been major. Thankfully as of yesterday May 5th, Sony has walked back that statement.
Per the PlayStation blog post from April 17, 2024 , you will need a PlayStation network account to play the “Legends mode” in Ghost Of Tsushima. This will not be a requirement for the single player mode of the game. With creating and linking your PlayStation network account you gain access to cross play support, the PlayStation overlay and trophies. Also PC players will be able to cross play with console players. With linking your existing account you will gain the trophies if you have played the game on your PS4 or PS5 and access to your friends list.

Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut is the first game that will utilize these new features. These features are available on Windows PCs and will be accessible from the in-game menu or keyboard by pressing the ” Shift + F1″ shortcut. The game will have full support for achievements on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The overlay is completely optional for both single player and legends mode.
With the backlash Sony received this past weekend from PC players, we hope Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut does well. Once again Legends mode is the only mode that will require you to have a PlayStation network account; you will be able to play the single player mode without one. Ghost of Tsushima Director Cut is an amazing game, I hope the PC community dives in!
