Manor Lords, which releases into early access on PC this Friday via steam and PC Game Pass has hit the 3 million milestone just 7 days after announcing it had crossed 2.5 million. The game, which is built by a single person developer was first shown off all the way back in 2020 and has since become one of the most anticipated games out there.

Taking one look at this game and you’d be shocked to find its made by a single developer as it truly looks like its going to be a special game that looks like its made by a massive team of veterans in the genre. Manor Lords presents a vibrant and detailed world inspired by 14th-century medieval life. With a high degree of historical authenticity and a rags-to-riches premise, players are tasked with growing a humble village into a powerful feudal city. The game is a complex city builder mixed with real time strategy and management elements.

While the game may seem to give off Total War vibes, the developer recently wrote that it is not that.”Manor Lords is not a Total War competitor,” says Styczeń. “It’s a city builder with battles. Yes, battles are there, but not as huge or as frequent as some of you might expect. The majority of gameplay is focused on city building and management.”

“A lot of the game mechanics focus on aesthetics of your town and resources take some time to be transported around the map,” he says. “This results mostly in a more of a relaxed experience, with high intensity moments spicing up atmospheric city building rather than the game being at high intensity all the time.” It absolutely is not, then, “a fast-paced RTS like Age of Empires or StarCraft”.

While there hasn’t been an official announcement for consoles as of yet, it does seem like at least an Xbox version is going to be in the works. Regardless, this is a game that should be on everyone’s radar on PC this week, in a week that is already stacked full of games.
