Last month Spike Chunsoft revealed the system requirements for its upcoming visual novel remake Danganronpa 2×2 and the performance targets for PC and console versions. While the console specs were reasonable for the Unity engine remake of the PSP/ Vita mystery adventure game, the PC requirements listed a shocking 32GB RAM requirement for the recommended performance. Today, Spike Chunsoft have amended the specs.
Danganronpa 2×2 is a ground-up remake of Spike Chunsoft’s 2012 PSP visual novel, which later released in North America and Europe as Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair for PS Vita in 2014. The remake is being developed by Gemdrops with supervision from series creator and writer Kazutaka Kodaka, and will introduce a new ‘Slayhem Mode’, which features an alternate story that the developer claims will be just as long as the main game.
While the original recommended specifications shocked fans by implying that the game would require 32GB of RAM and an RTX 4090 graphics card in order to run to the developer’s intended vision, the game’s website has been updated to merge the recommended and minimum requirements. Now, the game’s recommended requirements list 8GB RAM and a NVIDIA RTX 2060/AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU for the best experience.

While these specifications are still somewhat high for a visual novel, they do reflect a large technical overhaul from the original game. As for consoles, the game is expected to run at 4K/60 frames-per-second on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, while the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles will run with 1080p targets and uncapped frame-rates targeting 60 frames-per-second, although Nintendo Switch will target 720p resolution in its handheld mode. Xbox Series S performance targets have not yet been revealed.
Danganronpa 2×2 will release for PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on January 14th, 2027.
