The little mouse adventure Hela: of Mice & Magic has been on our radar for quite awhile. The teams over at Windup Games & Knights Peak have been drip feeding us info of late except a release date. Today during the Nintendo Direct, that changed as we finally got that date, which is thankfully still in 2026!
Hela: of Mice & Magic will release digitally and physically December 1st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The announcement of the release date came accompanied with a new CGI narrative trailer that shows perhaps how things get started in Hela. It won’t really show you what the game is or anything, but its a gorgeous trailer nonetheless.
Hela: of Mice & Magic will see players go on an adventure through a world filled with folklore as a mouse. With a backpack filled with magic and a companion mouse, either in co-op or solo play. Online co-op will support up to 4 players while there will also be local split screen co-op. Nothing beats co-op does it?
As little mice the world will feel huge and overwhelming at times. The Froggy backpack will definitely help with that. Using the frog tongue to swing and climb for example will make things more manageable. Everything we’ve seen so far has me excited for this one and thinking it will be a must play indie to end 2026.
Also as mentioned, the fact that they are producing a physical version of Hela: of Mice & Magic is a big plus. The Harmony edition comes packed with some great physical add ons. As many of us continue to fight for physical, it will be a must buy. The physical edition will also release in select regions December 1st.
