During today’s PlayStation State of Play – you can catch-up on all the reveals here – Sony and LEGO have announced a collaboration which brings a LEGO PlayStation 1 to gamers this October.
The 1,911 piece model includes the console itself, as well as the original controller which only us with grey, or no, hair will remember originally lacked analogue sticks. The LEGO console has many of the 1994 consoles features you will remember including memory card and controller ports.
Out of the sides of the LEGO console, two little dioramas will pop out. One for ape catching platformer, Ape Escape; and on the other Gran Turismo, PlayStation’s most iconic and recognisable racing series which lives on to this day.
LEGO have previously released a SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis) model, as well as a ‘grey brick’ Game Boy and NES which comes with a model TV. This is the latest, and unlikely the last, console to receive the LEGO treatment.
Pre-orders and Availability
The PlayStation 1 LEGO console will retail for $179.99 / 249.99 CAD / £139.99 GBP / €159.99. LEGO Insider Early Access for the PlayStation set runs from 1-3 October via the LEGO official website. The open launch follows on October 4.
