In the age of fantasy RPGs and expansive worlds filled with dozens of things to do and endless hours of entertainment, sometimes it’s just good to know that the scary things lurking in the back of our minds still have a home in the gaming world.
In the past decade alone we have seen a huge resurgence in the horror genre of gaming. With everything in front of us, it’s hard to imagine that more options are on the way. From sulking through the claustrophobic hallways of an abandoned space station while being hunted by an Alien to the return of some of the greatest games ever released like the Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil remakes, we’re eating good on this side of town. But as with everything in life, sometimes it doesn’t hurt to have some newcomers on the block.
The Tides are Changing
Rituals Tides was one of those games that peaked my interest when it was shown back in March of this year. It looks like a game set on it’s creepy atmosphere and though we haven’t seen much from them since, that drought has finally ended today with another gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show showcase. Check out the new gameplay trailer below.
The trailer starts off in a setting that eerily reminds me of the Baker household from Resident Evil 7. A pair of creepy masked characters can be seen standing over the player remarking about how impressed they are that she didn’t die. There isn’t much to dissect here, but the overall atmosphere has me thinking that this game will fill our heads with more then enough nightmares to keep us up at night.

Check out some of the stills down below and make sure to comment your thoughts on Ritual Tides’ new gameplay trailer.

Ritual Tides is slated to release in 2027 and can be wishlisted now on Steam.
