In a relatively last minute announcement, Spike Chunsoft reports delays around the launch of Steins;Gate RE:BOOT to Xbox players.

This remaster of the original Steins;Gate, which was originally looking at a launch date of August 20th to the Xbox Series X|S, has been postponed to October 29th. Spike Chunsoft, in their post to X/Twitter stated that this decision was made to align with the launch of the game to the console launch in western countries.

This announcement was also met with many on Twitter citing concerns that while physical editions would be coming to PlayStation 5 and both Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 consoles, there would be none (as it currently stands) coming to Xbox.

Steins;Gate RE:BOOT is a full remastering of the original title that was launched in 2009. It spawned not only several spin-off titles, but a manga and anime adaptation to the series. The story itself follows several students in downtown Tokyo, led by a young man named Rintaro Okabe. Through pure chance, the group manages to create an invention that allows the ability to send messages into the past. You see where this is going – a butterfly moves its wings in Tokyo and we get rain in Los Angeles, instead of sun.

Steins;Gate RE:BOOT features a vast array of updates. It includes a complete, from scratch, artistic update to character designs, backgrounds, and pivotal moments. There are also more fluid animations of the characters themselves via E-mote. Takeshi Abo, the original composer of the series, has also remade the entire soundtrack. Lastly, the original voice cast has rerecorded all of their dialogue.

For all intents and purposes – it’s a brand new game!
