As the world ends its thirteen year wait for a new Grand Theft Auto VI in just two weeks, one of the longest waits for another mega franchise continues. If there was to be a second most anticipated game in the world, it’d likely be the next entry in The Elder Scrolls which has not seen a new game since Skyrim which launched on 11.11.11.
Just over a week to go until Skyrim’s 15th anniversary and we finally have a release date for the next entry in the franchise, Sentinel. Announced today via social media, Bethesda confirmed the new title alongside a new teaser trailer that features music that sounds very Elder Scrolls.

The teaser ends with a quote from Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Izadine of Hammerfell: “The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thily lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.”
There had been speculation online over the last few weeks that Sentinel would be the subtitle and now Bethesda have answered the speculation. Unsurprisingly, nothing more was revealed today from the XBOX studio so we’ll have to wait to see any game footage.
This is the first real news we’ve had about the game since the teaser trailer reveal that was shown all the way back in 2018. Since then Bethesda spent much of their time and effort on Starfield and its DLC, with Todd Howard saying last November the game is “still a long way off”. How far off is anybody’s guess, for now the second-best option is the excellent The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster.
