During the THQ Nordic Showcase 2026, several updates on the Gothic franchise were announced. One such update is the ports of the original Gothic trilogy to modern platforms. Gothic, which originally released in 2001 exclusively on PC, saw a re-release for Nintendo Switch in 2023 and the PlayStation 4/5 and XBOX One/Series in July this year. They even included Gothic 1 Classic as a free game if you pre-ordered Gothic 1 Remake, which released early June, giving you early access to the classic!

Gothic Classic is now available on PlayStation 4/5 and XBOX One/Series. Gothic 2 Classic will come to PlayStation 4/5 and XBOX One/Series on September 29, 2026 and Gothic 3 Classic will come to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series in November.
Gothic 2 Complete Classics & Gothic 3 Classic

Gothic 2’s re-release is titled differently from Gothic 1 and Gothic 3. Note that this one is called “Complete Classics”. This complete classic should include the only expansion released for this franchise, Night of the Raven. The content in this expansion pack is massive, adding a new world, factions, and plotline to the core campaign. It’s been touted as a huge reason why Gothic 2 is considered the best in the trilogy.
Meanwhile, Gothic 3 Classic is scheduled during GTA VI month, November 2026. This release strategy is a great way to maintain the IP in the minds of gamers as they continue to provide updates to Gothic 1 Remake and the announcement of, hopefully, Gothic 2 Remake during THQ Nordic’s showcase in 2027.
Will the complete Gothic Classic Trilogy appear on Nintendo Switch?

While Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 Complete Classics are already available on Nintendo Switch, including a physical version, Gothic 3 will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 simultaneously with the other consoles. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Gothic 3, however, will only be a Game-Key Card.
