Although it was released 15 years ago, Minecraft is set to see some developer updates coming soon. A native PS5 version is in development and there are some updates to content drops as well as Minecraft Live.
Minecraft typically sees one large update that only happens during the summer, however the game will now receive multiple smaller updates throughout the year. They’ll vary in size but, it’s good that players will get more options to explore more often. Minecraft recently saw drops back in December of 2023 as well as April this year.

Minecraft Live is also seeing a change as it’ll now happen twice a year instead of just once in October and the mob vote, which had players vote on the games various creatures is now being retired.
The native PlayStation 5 update has been anticipated for quite some time now. What’s interesting is there’s no mention of an Xbox Series S/X update, the game was Xbox One X enhanced but never native to the Series consoles.
Feedback from players is still being asked for as well. So it seems as if this may not be the final update. Minecraft certainly was a game changer when it dropped 15 years ago and it doesn’t look like it’ll stop being updated anytime soon.
