During today’s THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, the publisher have announced that Way of the Hunter 2 will be leaving early access on Steam, whilst also coming to console next month. The sequel to Nine Rocks Games 2022 Way of the Hunter will launch on XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC on September 29, 2026.
Pre-orders for the game are now open. Those who pre-order Way of the Hunter 2 will receive the Heirloom Pack DLC, which is “an exclusive bonus celebrating a hunter’s legacy”.
The developers have also shared new screenshots as well as the latest release date trailer.
Way of the Hunter 1.0 Road Map
Since launching in March on Steam into early access, the game has received ‘Mostly Positive’ reviews, but now the road to version 1.0 has been confirmed. Nine Rocks Games have outlined that between now and launch, the game will see the following new features:
- Hearth & Hunt Headquarters, an expandable Master Lodge and a brand new North American region to explore
- Multiplayer, first on the Experimental Branch (already live) and coming soon on the main branch
- Ammo Change, a new ammunition switching system, testing first on Experimental Branch
- Non-typical trophies, bullet camera upgrades, and further ballistics improvements
- Continued animal AI refinement, new dog training options, and yes, a few new animals still to come
- Bug fixes, performance improvements, and quality-of-life updates across the board
