For many, the Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is something they’ve been looking forward to for quite a while. Unfortunately, for some players, they’ll have to wait just a bit longer.
The official Twitter/X account for the game posted just hours before the games release that they had platform-specific details surround the launch. The details were specific to Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S with no further updates for those who would be playing on PlayStation 5 or Steam.
Nintendo Switch News
For those who were looking to play on Nintendo switch, the currently available version would only be the Standard Edition. Additionally, cross play with other platforms and language localization other than English would not be immediately available. However, there is hope as the team. In the post, they did indicate they hope to bring these features and an upgrade to the deluxe edition as soon as possible. While this doesn’t provide an exact timeline, they have shared they will look to keep players updated. Those interested should continue to follow their social media account.
Xbox News
While Switch players will have access to a version of the game today, the same is not true for Xbox. In the same post, it was shared that due to unforeseen circumstances the game would launch by September 3rd. The indication of “by September 3rd” does leave room for the possibility of launching sooner on Xbox consoles. It’s also worth noting this will not impact those who have pre-ordered the game as these will not be canceled. Xbox pre-orders remain active at the time of this article.

As expected, the news was met with much backlash in the comments. The majority of the comments seem to be from Xbox players pointing out that this was posted mere hours before the launch. Additionally, shortly after this announcement, a launch party took place both in-person and via Twitch for the game leading to more ire from fans in the twitch chat.
Our fighting expert had great first impressions of the game, but time will tell if the launch and reception to the game is hindered by this most recent news.
