One of the most Souls community’s fondest soulslikes, Mortal Shell’s standalone sequel finally has a release date and there’s not long to wait.
Mortal Shell 2 will be arriving on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 digitally on August 20, 2026. There is quite a lot of anticipation around this one as the ongoing Steam Open Beta, which includes the first three hours of the game, has Very Positive review scores. Some player progress from the Open Beta can be carried over to the full game.
In a release date announcement trailer, developer Cold Symmetry have showcased some of the horrifying bosses that players will tackle in the full game. The trailer also showcases some savage moves that we will be able to rip foes to pieces with. Glorious.
Pre-Orders and Devout Edition Early Access
Pre-orders for the game are available now digitally and via selected retailers with the base edition of the game retailing at $49.99. Pre-ordering the game’s Devout Edition will grant players the ability to access the game 72 hours early. The digital only Devout Edition retails for $59.99 and also includes eight playable shells with the Obsidian skin set.

Physical Standard and Revered Editions
The PlayStation 5 version will also receive two physical editions – and it could be one of the final soulslikes ever printed on a disc. As well as the Standard Edition, Mortal Shell 2 will see a limited Revered Edition which includes a pretty awesome steelbook, a collectors edition box, an artbook and more. The Revered Edition will retail for $69.99 USD.

The release date will give Mortal Shell 2 the space to breathe this summer in a genre that can often be overloaded with new releases. Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed until 2027 and FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods will only release on Nintendo Switch 2, so indirect competition.
