Dracula Is King Of England And You Are His Assassin In Newly Announced Immersive Sim, Vampirium 1997

Earlier today, we got the announcement of Vampirium 1997, the next title from the critically acclaimed indie developer, Bithell Games, the studio behind games like John Wick Hex, TRON Identity, Amberspire, and Thomas Was Alone. Vampirium 1997 is coming soon to PC in Early Access.

Check out the reveal trailer for Vampirium 1997 below.

Vampirium 1997, which is being developed and published by Bithell Games, is described as an immersive sim game where you play as a servant to Dracula, dispatching his enemies at his call, the finer details left up to you.

“At his command, master your dark gifts to assassinate his enemies and secure his vampiric empire. Infiltrate locked-down locations, adapt and survive in living environments and uncover your own unique methods of executing missions.”

Use items you find in the environment as tools and weapons, rely on stealth to avoid confrontations and reduce casualties, or carve a path to your target with silver. Vampirium 1997 takes immersive sim games back to their fundamentals, using a minimalist design and a tile combination mechanic to uncover verbs you can use to plot out your mission.

Between missions, you’ll answer to Dracula personally, learning about his enemies and his kingdom, with the choice to replay missions and try alternative solutions, in turn unlocking new tasks for each level. Earn XP by executing targets with creative methods, which you then use to unlock more of your vampiric powers, from hypnotising the feebleminded to feeding on your target’s precious blood.

A gameplay trailer was also released, narrated by studio founder and game director Mike Bithell, which helps to show fans the level of depth there is to be found in Vampirium 1997, which we recommend watching.

What was interesting about the announcement of Vampirium 1997 is that it was already public knowledge that it would be revealed today, with fans receiving emails that contained a chapter each of a short story called “The Last Portrait”. The first four chapters are now out, with the game announced alongside the fourth one, and the next chapter dropping next week, as well as information on Alpha testing.

Vampirium 1997 is coming soon to PC in Early Access.
