By the end of Summer Game Fest 2026 and surrounding events, what we affectionately refer to as “Showcase Week”, several games were revealed to be releasing in late September. One of these was Valor Mortis, which has subsequently been delayed by a few weeks to avoid the release rush.

The next game from One More Level, the developers of the Ghostrunner series, is a first-person Souls-like RPG set during an alternative Napoleonic War. You play as William, a soldier resurrected to find the Europe he died for has been twisted by a mysterious plague. Weilding the corruptive powers of the plague alongside a variety of weapons, from swords to pistols, you’ll face the plague-ridden abominations of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard in search of the truth behind the plague and your unholy resurrection.
Announced during the June 2026 XBOX Games Showcase, Valor Mortis was originally announced to release on September 24th on PC and consoles, which ended up being the same day as Silent Hill Townfall, CONTROL Resonant, and the day before Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
On Thursday, June 11th, One More Level posted a message on their social media, explaining that they were delaying the release of Valor Mortis to October 13th to “give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe.” You can read the full message below.

Many developers and publishers have held off on announcing release dates due to the hotly anticipated release of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI, set to release on November 19th, 2026. Unfortunately, this has led to some clumping occurring, and to avoid losing out on sales, somebody has to blink.
We think that One More Level have made the right call for Valor Mortis, as a later release date will hopefully give players a chance to pick it up before the biggest release of the year, nay decade.
Valor Mortis releases on October 13th on PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X/S, with a demo available now on PC via Steam.
