Shift Up’s acclaimed action game is making the jump to Nintendo’s latest hardware, continuing a landmark week for the franchise.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Shift Up confirmed that Stellar Blade is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. No specific release date exists beyond this year. However, the announcement marks the first time Stellar Blade comes to a Nintendo platform.
Originally released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April 2024, Stellar Blade quickly established itself as a standout action game. Players take on the role of EVE, a soldier from the 7th Airborne Squad. She’s sent to reclaim Earth from the Naytiba, a race of monstrous creatures that have devastated the planet and driven humanity to space. The game blends fast, stylish melee combat with a rich post-apocalyptic world and a story full of twists.
The Switch 2 announcement arrives just days after Summer Game Fest, where Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. This title is a direct sequel to the original game. That reveal comes with a notable change: the sequel will be self-published by Shift Up rather than Sony Interactive Entertainment. The studio has been actively exploring platform expansion for the original game. Today’s announcement confirms that those plans are now in motion.
Shift Up had previously hinted at further platform expansion in May 2026. Additionally, Shift Up has moved to a self-publishing model for the sequel. This means full control over where and when its titles launch going forward.
For Switch 2 owners who missed the game on PS5 or PC, Stellar Blade offers a substantial single-player experience. Also, with a sequel now officially in development, this year’s port gives new players the ideal opportunity to catch up before Blood Rain arrives.
