NBA The Run has just released into the wild to quite a bit of buzz. NBA fans that have been craving a new NBA Street type of game have finally got a game to scratch that itch with NBA The Run. However there has been a lot of people upset that there is no solo mode. Well there is good news on that front as NBA The Run does indeed have a single player mode, even if it’s not labelled as such.
NBA The Run launched on June 9th with 3 different game modes. Squads, which allows you to play 3v3 with 5 other online players, each controlling a single player. Solos, which allows you to control all 3 players on a team vs another online player controlling all 3 players. And lastly there is Friends mode, which allows you to create a private server to invite your friends and play against AI.

How To Play Offline Single Player
At first blush that looks like there is no option to play on your own against the AI as they all seem to be online modes. However you can actually play just by yourself against the AI in a single player mode.
All you need to do is select the friends mode and create your lobby. If you don’t invite any friends and just begin playing you will be put into a match with all AI on both your team and your opponents team.
It may appear like you are playing against other players at first. The game launches into a matchmaking screen and when you do get into a game all the players have what looks like gamertags. These tags are all auto generated though and they are indeed just AI players.

Now I will say, the AI in this game is not great at all and if you are looking for any sort of challenge, single player isn’t where you will find it at the moment. But the fact that there at least is a single player mode should make many players happy. I’ve seen many on social media say they are skipping the game because there isn’t that option. If that’s you, hopefully you find this article!
And if you are jumping into the game, maybe we will see you on the court!
