Spyro the Dragon is back!
At the XBOX Games Showcase 2026, we got the reveal trailer for the next entry in the beloved 3D platformer series, Spyro: A Realm Beyond, launching on PC and consoles in Spring 2027.

After their stellar work on the Spyro: The Reignited Trilogy, Toys For Bob are making Spyro’s next adventure. Spyro is on a journey to discover a way home, which is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro will have to make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever.
XBOX Wire had the chance to talk with Paul Yan, Studio Head of Toys For Bob, who made it clear that the team are all “huge Spyro fans”.
“The little purple dragon means so much to us,” said Paul Yan, “we have a long history together; Spyro was the main inspiration that led to the innovations of the Skylanders series that we pioneered, and the remake of the original three games built from the ground up in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy – which reintroduced Spyro to a modern audience. Ever since then, we’ve been dreaming of what an original new adventure would look like, and that dream has manifested in Spyro: A Realm Beyond.”
The team were careful to keep that familiar feel and look that fans of Spyro will recognise, while also moving the series forward in time, giving the titular dragon a more enhanced wingspan, allowing Spyro full flight for the first time. “He’s small, but mighty,” explained Paul, “so we had to do a lot of different experiments to explore how he could be both nimble and still be very physical when actively pushing his way through the air.”
Toys For Bob are keen to stay true to the original series, keeping the game’s colourful aesthetics, light-hearted charm, and quirky cast while introducing new gameplay mechanics and a new antagonist. “You may have noticed that we are introducing the threat of a new antagonist in this story,” Paul mentions, “and his presence will raise the stakes. He will challenge Spyro’s abilities and push him to new emotional depths that will see Spyro grow as a hero.
It’s a story full of heart and I can’t wait for you to experience this new journey.”
A lot of us here are Spyro fans, having either grown up with the series or quickly fallen for the diminutive dragon when playing the series for the first time with the Reignited Trilogy. So, while the rumours of a new Spyro game from Toys For Bob always sounded good on paper, from what we’ve seen today, it looks like the series is in the right hands.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond takes flight in Spring 2027 across XBOX Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and is included with Game Pass.
