There were so many showcases in the past 24 hours. And the wildest part? We’re not even done yet!!!! I, like many, spent easily five to six hours today, glued to my office chair as we got a veritable waterfall of gaming announcements. Take the Story Rich Showcase, where we saw the final release trailer for the upcoming Duppy Detective Tashia.
Duppy Detective Tashia, coming to us from SpriteWrench Studios, is a choose-your-own-adventure game in which we’ll be playing the titular Tashia. In this point-and-click mystery game, we’ll be helping Tashia solve a murder…while also finding her missing cell phone. Here’s the truly interesting part of this game. The content itself focuses around folklore of the Caribbean Islands. Heck, the term “Duppy” finds its roots within the local culture.
“Duppy is a word of African origin commonly used in various Caribbean Islands, including Jamaica and Barbados, meaning ghost or spirit.”
Murders, thefts, and ghosts – oh my! And it’s up to Tashia to crack the case and bring peace to her home!
Upcoming Launch of Duppy Detective Tashia
Duppy Detective Tashia is coming out on PC…on June 8th! Yes – Monday (depending on when you read this – if in the future, hi!)! The game currently has a demo available to try your hand at prior to the game’s launch. The game’s Steam page promises two to three hours of play in this narrative title that will have us navigating the lush island home of Tashia. And be sure to visit those locations on the island multiple times – because what time of day it is will change up who (or what) you can speak to!
