The return of Lara Croft will have to wait a bit longer. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the 1996 original Tomb Raider, was shown off today at PlayStation’s State of Play showcase. Alongside the new trailer, we also learned that the game will receive a bit of a delay.
Originally announced as a 2026 title when it was first revealed back at last years Game Awards, Legacy of Atlantis is now slipping back into early 2027. The good news about this is that we now at least have a firm release date, with a February 10th 2027 date locked in.
The interesting thing about this is that the newest mainline Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is also tentatively scheduled for 2027. Will the the Legacy of Atlantis delay affect Catalyst, or will we really get 2 Tomb Raider games in 2027?
If you are like me and have yet to play the first Tomb Raider back in the day, this will be a great time to jump in. Having played the most recent trilogy and loved every second of it, I cannot wait to jump back into a Tomb Raider game. It is a bit weird to see a bunch of dinosaur’s in a Tomb Raider game though, at least to me!
With fully revamped visuals and a new voice actor portraying Lara, things will feel new and fresh, even to those who have played Tomb Raider back in 1996.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be available February 12th 2027 for Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. It will have a price of $59.99 USD.
