Regardless of what else may be going on in the video games industry, XBOX is still reminding everyone that 2026 is a big year for the platform, marking its 25th anniversary. Shortly following their recent rebranding, XBOX has revealed the Team Spirit Limited Edition controller, available now through XBOX Design Lab.

Announced via the XBOX Wire website, it is clear that XBOX is leaning heavily on the upcoming Football World Cup, given the use of certain jargon to describe the controller’s design. For example, the article states how the Team Spirit Limited Edition controller “celebrates team pride, shared traditions and the unmistakable energy that only this season can bring” alongside how it captures the “electricity of the biggest matchday moments from the opening whistle to the final countdown”.
The article goes on to cover the design of the controller, from the large “26” over the left thumbstick and d-pad, to the solid “halfway line” that stretches horizontally across the controller. Other than the front body of the controller, players can still choose what colours they want the remaining parts of it to be in the XBOX Design Lab. The Team Spirit Limited Edition design is only available on a standard XBOX controller.
It’s a canny move by XBOX, using football fever and linking it to their own milestone and branding, and with big releases from their mighty IP war chest, like the recently released Forza Horizon 6 and the highly anticipated return of Fable, 2026 definitely feels like a year XBOX fans are going to remember.
The XBOX Team Spirit Limited Edition Controller is available now via the XBOX Design Lab.
