Indie developer borbware has released a new trailer for its upcoming non-violent metroidvania EMUUROM, moving the release date a few days earlier to put some distance between its own launch and that of Mina the Hollower, which was recently announced to launch at the end of May.
In the new trailer, which updates the release date of EMUUROM to May 25th, borbware states that “Due to Mina the Hollower launching on May 29th (the day after EMUUROM’s original release date), we have no other choice to change the launch date.”
In much the same way, we saw other indie games moving when Hollowknight: Silksong’s release date was announced, and even heard some developers say that the sudden drop of Silksong negatively affected their game’s sales. This comes as no surprise, with Mina the Hollower being the highly anticipated next game from Yacht Club Games, the studio behind the iconic Shovel Knight.
It’s a salient decision that hopefully gives EMUUROM more time to find its fans, although it no doubt puts undue pressure now on the team to meet this new deadline. Having only announced their partnership with Coyote Time Publishing and the original release date for EMUUROM only a few days ago, we commend the team at borbware on their quick thinking and hope it pays off for them.
EMUUROM will now release on May 25th on PC.
