borbware, the solo developer behind the non-violent Metroidvania EMUUROM, announced last month that they had found a publisher in Coyote Time Publishing, and recently followed up with a release date reveal.
The original announcement, which came as part of a devlog posted on the game’s Steam page, shared the news of their new partnership with Coyote Time Publishing, and apparently had the game’s release date somewhere within it. The developer took to social media to post the release date trailer, stating EMUUROM would be released on May 28th on PC.

EMUUROM, which was first revealed at Thinky Direct 2025, is a 2D pixel art Metroidvania with a focus on exploration and understanding over combat, making it more of a “metroidbrainia” akin to games like Animal Well and Tunic. Players explore the interconnected world of EMUUROM using their Scanner Beam to learn information about their surroundings, filling out their EMUUDEX, and then using this knowledge to solve puzzles that range from obvious to obscure.
Explore an ancient paradise before it is lost forever, uncover secrets both deftly hidden and in plain sight, apply your findings to reach new areas, and begin to comprehend the machinations of the EMUUROM creatures.
Key Features of EMUUROM include:
- Emphasis on exploration and discovery: Explore a dense, interconnected land brimming with surprises around every corner!
- No hand-holding: It’s up to your own wits to figure out the workings of the world.
- Level up your brain: There are (almost) no power-ups – learn the systemic behaviour of the EMUUROM creatures to get around!
- Past findings are always at your fingertips: Document your findings in the EMUUDEX, and recall them at any time.

With a unique retro look and structure arising from the restrictions of the TIC-80 fantasy console, and promising between 10-30 hours of content, it looks like EMUUROM is a game that both Matroidvania and puzzle fans should look forward to.
EMUUROM is launching on May 28th on PC. A demo is currently available on PC via Steam.
