Regular Studio, the two-brother indie dev team behind the action platformer game Motorslice, has announced that the launch was successful, with the game recouping all its costs within hours of its release.
The developers shared the good news in a social media post, thanking the fans for their support, as well as clarifying that they were aware of “bugs about save corruption and checkpoint teleportation” and were working to get them fixed as soon as possible.
Motorslice, which released on May 5th across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the late inclusion of launching on Xbox Game Pass, is a third-person action platformer where you play as P, a Slicer navigating a colossal and labyrinthine megastructure, traversing the brutalist environment and fighting giant construction vehicles using her chainsaw, the titular Motorslice.
The game is currently sitting at a 75 on MetaCritic, with a ‘Strong’ rating on OpenCritic, with many praising its art direction, atmosphere, and level design, with a few saying they struggled with the game’s parkour mechanics. We awarded the game a 9/10 on the GSC Review Scale, describing it as a game that is “confident enough to strip everything back to movement, atmosphere, and momentum, and it is all the better for it.”

An indie dev finding quick success with a new IP that doesn’t follow the current trends, there’s a lot to love about this, and we imagine that Regular Studio is very happy about it, too.
