Thirsting for Information?
The Blood of Dawnwalker is described as a ‘dark fantasy, narrative-driven epic adventure’ set in Medieval Europe with a supernatural twist. It is promised to be the first chapter in an epic saga.
The road to launch event kicked off with some gameplay of protagonist Coen getting the lay of the land and exploring the map. It shows how you can transform into a Wolf from an early unlock in the game, allowing you to traverse quicker. We’re then treated to some of the combat. We also get a glimpse at the vampiric need mechanic, drinking blood to replenish your health. Human blood is most effective, but you can also drink animal blood too. The more you feed, the higher your corruption, which unlocks more vampiric abilities.
A small side quest is shown, demonstrating how your unlock new skills by using experiences at shrines that are dotted through the open world. In the video, the shrine is desecrated and Coen needs to restore it before it can be used.
Fame < Infamy
Performing certain actions throughout the increases your infamy. In turn, higher infamy ladens you with edicts that make the world more challenging. You’ll need to raise your infamy with certain groups / characters to progress certain quest paths, plus it sounds fun, no? Everything you do in the open world supposedly has an impact on the game.
You’ll unlock combat abilities that can be human only, vampire only, or shared between both forms. You can use blood magic during the day, not as a vampire. There seems to be a lot of flexibility of combat approaches to choose from.
Storied Tales
The story trailer introduces new characters that Coen will encounter on his adventure. Some allies, some enemies, all playing a role in the game you experience. The trailer also shows of a new mountainous area.
The game plays heavily into the fourtheenth-century European setting. Bloody wars, plague ridden, it all paints a vivid picture to allow the supernatural leanings to flourish.
