How To Quickly Gain XP & Chips In Kiln

Kiln is Double Fine’s latest game, a 4v4 multiplayer brawler where players must quench the other teams Kiln 3 times in order to win. The game is quite a bit of fun to play. The 2 main things people will be chasing in Kiln is XP to level up and chips, the games currency. This guide will help show you a quick way to gain quite a bit of both.

Leveling Like Normal

In order to gain XP and chips for the most part, you have to play games. Each game will get you 1,000XP and 500 chips. If your team wins you can gain an additional 500XP for a total of 1,500XP. For how short the matches are you will naturally level up fairly quickly.

There is also 1 other way to get a nice chunk of XP or chips, and that is by smashing Potty! Potty is found within the Wedge, the games main hub. He will spawn in one of 5 places. Those are:

  • To the left of the wheel area
  • To the right of the wheel area in behind the shop
  • In the training area to the right
  • In behind Celadon
  • In behind the the area where all the other players pots will show up, below the large tree

Potty will take many shapes but he is easy to spot. Now if you smash Potty and break him, he will give you a reward. The reward is either 1,000XP or up to 4,800 Chips.

In theory you are only allowed to break Potty once a day. There’s an achievement/trophy for breaking him 25 times, and each time you do if you spot him again he will say see you tomorrow and you won’t be able to hurt or break him again. However there is currently an exploit that let’s you break him over and over.

Exploit

This current exploit requires you to be in a large bowl. The large bowl has a special attack called the Witch’s Brew which when you use it, shoots out a bowl of acid that will burn anyone in its path, including Potty! If you use this move twice on Potty he will break.

What’s weird though is that this move will continue to hurt and break Potty even if you have broken him once that day. Potty will constantly respawn in one of those five spots and you can just roll over to him and use the Witch’s Brew two more times and break him again.

Not only will this help you earn the “Smash Me Please?!” achievement/trophy quickly, but it will be giving up either the 1,000XP or potentially up to 4,800 chips each time! Considering doing this takes about 90 seconds per time, you can see how this can quickly rack up your chips or some serious XP.

This will make your grind to 100,000 chips for the “Moneybags” achievement/trophy much easier, but if you get the XP it will help towards level 50.

Now because this is not really how Potty is intended to be used, this will likely get patched. But for now its a great way to get those chips and earn some extra XP. Shout out to MaNa tW on Trueachievements for first finding this.

We hope this guide has helped you out. For more Kiln content head below to get you closer to that 1000GS or Platinum trophy.
