Ember Lab kicked off today’s PlayStation State of Play by revealing Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to their 2021 debut release, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The game is slated to release this year on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Check out the Kena: Scars of Kosmora Announcement Trailer below.
According to a post written for the PlayStation Blog by Ember Lab co-founder Josh Grier, in Scars of Kosmora, Kena is older and has made a reputation as a Spirit Guide, now on a journey for answers regarding the affliction that has plagued her for her whole life. Arriving on the island of Kosmora, a land of new cultures and beliefs, she is confronted by a powerful spirit who breaks her staff, her tool for Spirit Guiding, and what is keeping her alive. This forces her to learn Kosmora’s long-forgotten form of Spirit Guiding using Alchemy, as she pursues her attacker and uncovers the mysteries hidden on Kosmora.
Fans can look forward to the addition of elemental spirit companions, “charming buddies that travel with you, grow over time, and unlock new powers as your bond deepens.” We caught glimpses of one of these spirit companions in the trailer, but the devs promise there are more to see.
Along with elemental spirit companions, Kena’s own skill set os enahnced with new elemental abilities, adding more strategy and depth to the enemy encounters and epic boss fights you’ll have across Kosmora. Teaming up with your elemental spirit companions and utilising the elements will be crucial to success.
The team is staying tight-lipped on the narrative for Kena: Scars of Kosmora, but did say that they were focused on creating “an emotional and heartfelt adventure for returning players of Kena: Bridge of Spirits and those new to Kena’s world.”

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to see and hear more about Kena: Scars of Kosmora, so be sure to check back here at the GSC for any updates in the future.
