In what is scheduled to be an absolutely sensational year for video games, Gamer Social Club awarded our first 10 / 10 last week to Cairn, the survival climbing game from The Game Bakers. Following the emotional ascent up Mount Kami, in our review we said “if there’s anything to take away from this review, it’s the deep emotion connection I felt during and after the climb. I felt frustration, happiness, sadness, despair, relief, and guilt”.

Following critical success of the game from many review outlets, the commercial success for the game has also begun as Cairn has already sold 200,000 copies in its opening weekend. In a post on X (Twitter), The Game Bakers have confirmed that across PlayStation 5 and PC, the game is off to a strong start:

As to whether Cairn can continue to keep ascending the Steam charts, or it begins a slow rappel back down, we will have to wait and see. There are currently no announcements to bring the game to Switch 2 or Xbox which could grow the sales numbers further.

It seems that the game has landed well with players too as at the time of writing, the Steam reviews for the game are ‘Very Positive’ from almost 2,500 reviews. Meanwhile on PlayStation, the game has a strong 4.68/5 rating from over 4,500 reviewers.
