Today, Universal and Tribute Games (TMNT Shredders Revenge, Marvel Cosmic Invasion) have shared new info about their upcoming beat-em-up featuring the cult classic world of Scott Pilgrim. The major news is that the game will be coming to PC, Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation 4 and 5 on March 3rd. Originally announced at last year’s Summer Games Fest, plenty of people were excited at the idea of a new beat-em-up with this cast of characters, and now players won’t have to wait long.

Tribute have also announced 2 new playable characters you’ll be able to try out on release date. The first up is Matthew Patel, a former rival of Scott’s, and someone who attacks with fire and also has more supernatural abilities, such as being able to summon demons. The second character revealed is simply known as Robot-01, a robot that was built by the Katayanagi twins in order to beat Scott. Robot-01 sports some long-range projectiles and looks like they will cause a lot of fast paced chaos.

Scott Pilgrim EX looks to build on the existing lore that all started back in the early 2000’s with the graphic novels by artist Bryan Lee O-Malley. Bryan is back as co-writer for this games story, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise, as he was involved with the live action movie by Edgar Wright, and the Netflix animated show as well.
Tribute’s next game is looking to be a great addition in the resurgence of the beat-em-up genre. Are you a fan of the Scott Pilgrim universe and will be picking this game up? Join the Gamer Social Club Discord and let us know your thoughts and keep up with our coverage of Scott Pilgrim EX!
