Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Demo Released for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S

It’s been almost six years since Final Fantasy VII Remake first released for PlayStation 4. Now the game is finally making its way to Nintendo and Xbox platforms starting next month. The first entry in Square Enix’s ongoing trilogy of Final Fantasy VII reimaginings is set to make its multiplatform debut on January 22, 2026. To hold fans over until then the publisher has released a free demo including the entirety of the game’s opening.

Final Fantasy VII Remake first released in April 2020 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive after years of anticipation. In June 2021, Remake made its way to PS5 in the form of Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade, an enhanced version that included a new expansion focused on the beloved character Yuffie. This version eventually made its way to PC later that year. After years of waiting, and the release of its sequel in 2024, the game is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S next month.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Demo Features

The demo, which is now available from the Nintendo eShop and Microsoft Store, contains the entirety of the game’s opening “Bombing Mission” sequence, which sees Cloud teaming up with the eco-terrorist group Avalanche to destroy a Mako Reactor. Save files from the demo will transfer to the full game when it releases, allowing players to pick up directly from where it leaves off.

The demo highlights some of the new features for this version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, namely a “New Game – Head Start” option which allows players to begin the game with high-level characters and a large amount of gil and materia items. This option seems to be for returning players who want a “New Game Plus”-like experience. Players of the demo will also receive the Revival Earrings and Survival Set items for use in the full game.

The demo weighs in at roughly 20GB on Xbox and 7.9GB on Nintendo Switch 2, a far cry from the over 90GB required for the full game. Pre-orders for the game include the original Final Fantasy VII, which can be accessed immediately.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade will release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on January 22, 2026. The game is currently available for PC and PlayStation 5. Let us know in the comments down below if you’ll be adding this to your Switch 2 or Xbox Series collection.
