The album features a wonderful variety of tracks from Final Fantasy IX, spotlighting certain main themes like The Place I’ll Return to Someday alongside location tracks like Treno, The City That Never Sleeps. Three videos feature three tracks from the album, and you can watch/listen to them on YouTube now (links below).

Melodies of Life, the game’s central musical motif, was already released as a vinyl earlier this year with the original vocalist, Emiko Shiratori, returning. Then there were the three music boxes released on October 31st, and the special music livestream that was held on July 7th, the official day of Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary.

As we mentioned earlier, a small range of merchandise based on this jazz album was also revealed earlier this week, adding to the mountain of merch and events already announced for the FFIX 25th anniversary. The cover art depicts the main characters, Vivi Ornitier and Eiko Carol, sitting atop an Alexandrian house, with the towering spire of Alexandria Castle and the planet’s twin moons in the background.

A keychain and pouch bag featuring the Midnight Jazz: FINAL FANTASY IX album artwork will be available to purchase from February 2026 and are priced at ¥1,320 and ¥2,420, respectively. For more details on these items, as well as the option to pre-order them, visit the Square Enix E-store.

While we have seen all sorts of merchandise and events as part of Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, there hasn’t been hide nor hair of the long rumoured FFIX remake seen or heard at all this year. Now with The Game Awards behind us, fans will have to look to next year and beyond for any hope of clarification around Square Enix’s plans for Final Fantasy IX.
