Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars is considered by many to be one of the greatest point-and-click adventure games of all time. We don’t say this lightly as it’s for good reason. The globe-trotting adventure game is still wonderfully singular in its atmosphere and gorgeous hand-drawn visuals. Last year we say these lovingly remastered in last year’s Reforged remaster. Now, hot off the heels of announcing Broken Sword 2’s Reforged edition, Revolution Software has announced that Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars Reforged is available today on Nintendo Switch 2. That’s right, you can add this to your Nintendo Switch collection today.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game supports full 4K visuals when docked and 1080p visuals in handheld mode. Perhaps most excitingly includes full mouse control support, a feature not many Switch 2 games have taken advantage of yet. Much like the original Nintendo Switch version, this one also features touch screen support.
Best of all, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Broken Sword – Shadows of the Templar Reforged includes an upgrade path for owners of the original Nintendo Switch version. For just $4.99 owners of the Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 version to take advantage of mouse controls and 4K visuals.
Commenting on the release, Broken Sword creator and Revolution Software CEO Charles Cecil states, “It’s a thrill to see Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged make its way to Nintendo Switch 2. The extra power of the new hardware lets the game truly shine – I think the 4K visuals are genuinely breathtaking and, with full mouse support, this is arguably the most faithful way to experience this reforged version of George and Nico’s first adventure”.
With the game’s sequel, Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, already confirmed for a Nintendo Switch 2 release, it’s fair to assume Revolution is committed to supporting the platform. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we see the reemergence of Broken Sword – Parzival’s Stone as a potential release for the platform. This series has no real sign of stopping so supporting the platform is the next logical step. What else may we see Revolution release onto Nintendo Switch 2?
Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
