FromSoftware took the final spot during Sony’s State of Play Japan broadcast with the reveal of The Forsaken Hollows, the first major DLC for Elden Ring: Nightreign. Launching on 4 December 2025, the expansion promises new character classes, bosses, and a mysterious new Shifting Earth event to explore.
The trailer, which closed out the 40-minute showcase, teased a descent into the Great Hollow – the new Shifting Earth event; a vast, cursed chasm beneath the region of Limveld. This new area is described as a “great cavity strewn with exotic ruins, sacred towers, and crystals that exude a life-draining miasma,” hinting at a darker, more arcane tone than the base game.
Two new Nightfarer classes were introduced:
- The Scholar: An arcane-focused academic who gains combat advantages through battlefield observation.
- The Undertaker: A strength-and-faith hybrid abbess tasked with slaying the Nightlord, wielding devastating holy attacks.
While the trailer didn’t reveal the identities of the two new Nightlords, FromSoftware confirmed they will offer fresh challenges for seasoned players. We also saw footage of new field and end of night bosses including the Dancing Lion from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and Artorias from Dark Souls’ DLC: Artorias of the Abyss.
Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition of Nightreign will receive the DLC at no extra cost. Those with the base game can upgrade to access the expansion.
The Forsaken Hollows marks the first major content drop since Nightreign launched earlier this year. With its blend of cryptic lore, punishing combat, and atmospheric world design, the DLC looks set to deepen the experience for Tarnished veterans and newcomers alike.
