How to Solve the Ominous Painting Puzzle in Silent Hill f

Not everything is terrifying or trying to kill you in Ebisugaoka; there are several puzzles to solve as you make your way through the town’s fog-wreathed streets. Here is our Ominous Painting Puzzle guide for Silent Hill f.

Disclaimer: All of my puzzle guides posted on Gamer Social Club will be based on the Hard difficulty setting that you selected in the start of your playthrough for the puzzlesTHIS IS THE DEFAULT SETTING. If you did not change your difficulty options, these guides should work for youThe puzzles and their solutions vary by the difficulty you selected, so make sure you are searching for the right guide.

The Premise: Whose Been Naughty

You’ve made it out of the elementary and past the scary monster between you and the answer you’ve been looking for, just to end up back where it all started: Hinako’s home.

As you make your way through this twisted version of the place you once called home, the horrors of the past begin to show themselves through the trials in front of you. The ominous painting puzzle is one that once again relies on your current playthrough and changes based on your decisions. For the sake of your own sanity, I will be posting all the solutions starting with the default solution.

Once you’ve gathered your own painting from deeper within your home, simply return to this room located in the middle of the base iteration of the house. Once you place Hinako’s painting on the wall, the scenery around you will change, and the puzzle will officially start.

The Solution: Creepy Paintings for All

Ending #1: Coming Home to Roost (Default)

Rotate all the paintings so they’re facing up except Hinako’s, which should be upside down.

Ending #2: Fox’s Wedding

Rotate the painting of Hinako and her parents so they’re facing up, while the rest are upside down.

Ending #3: The Fox Wets Its Tail

Rotate the photos of Hinako, Shu, and Sakuko so they’re facing up, then turn the photos of Hinako’s parents and Rinko upside down.

Ending #4: Ebisugaoka in Silence

Rotate the photo of Hinako so it’s facing up, then turn the photos of everyone else upside down.
