Use the Hell is Us: Solve the Lost Keys Mystery guide to solve one of the mysteries in Lake Cynon.

Hell is Us is third-person action-adventure game that aims to “return to the roots of adventure games” by getting players to rely on their instincts rather than way points and map markers. It’s ambitious and quite rewarding to make progress and discover stuff off the beaten path.

There’s a whole host of puzzles, mysteries and strange items to be found in the world of Hadea, where Hell is Us is set. Not to mention weird looking enemies too!

With that in mind, we’ve pulled together some guides which we hope are helpful. Please note that these won’t necessarily be step-by-step walkthroughs, but things to look out for to help solve the mystery.

Hell is Us: Solve the Lost Keys Mystery Guide

Throughout Hell is Us, you’ll encounter items that pertain to a ‘mystery’. These are described as “curious enigmas and ancient puzzles scattered throughout Hadea”. You can track these in your Datapad where you can see your inventory, general progress and other things.

The Lost Keys Mystery starts in Lake Cynon, likely the fourth area you’ll get to in your exploration. From the starting point, head down the track until you come to a notice board with an obvious pick up on it. This will be a lost note asking for help looking for lost keys.

The keys are nearby actually in Lake Cynon. To get to them you will need to drain the pool of water that’s in the main area. Check out our Blue Flower Scroll puzzle guide to drain the pool.

Once drained, head down the stairs that are revealed. At the bottom and to the right of the doorway that is open you will find a collectible (yellow orb). This is the Algae Key.

Talju Gotta Do, What Ya Talju Gotta Do

You won’t be able to use the key for a while. You’ll have to wait until at least Act 2 to use the key. You’ll head to Talju, an area available to you by APC as you start your search for the keystones.

In that area, you’ll make it to the Town Hall (near the Pharmacy at the start) where you’ll meet an NPC, Caspian. Speak with him and help him find his son Lukhan. Once you’ve found him, report back to Caspian who’ll give you a walkie talkie to take back to Lukhan.

He’ll then get you to do a couple of other things before giving you a lead for seeking a Keystone. This will open up the Marastas area. When you can, head to Marastas.

As you explore Marastas, head down the main path and keep left. If you’re in the right place, you’ll come across a small wooden bridge with an enemy on it. Go across and up the stone stairs behind it.

At the top of the stairs head left until you see a wooden bus shelter on the left and a building on the right. Head round the back and into the building via the open door.

Immediately to your left as you enter is a small chest that you will use the Algae Key on. Once unlocked you’ll be rewarded with the Terror Cap. You’ll need these caps if you want to unlock the ‘Passion for Fashion” achievement.
