Hell is Us is third-person action-adventure game that aims to “return to the roots of adventure games” by getting players to rely on their instincts rather than way points and map markers. It’s ambitious and quite rewarding to make progress and discover stuff off the beaten path.

There’s a whole host of puzzles, mysteries and strange items to be found in the world of Hadea, where Hell is Us is set. Not to mention weird looking enemies too!

With that in mind, we’ve pulled together some guides which we hope are helpful. Please note that these won’t necessarily be step-by-step walkthroughs, but things to look out for to help solve the mystery.

Hell is Us: Solve ‘Heart of Gold’ Good Deed Guide

Good Deeds are additional side objectives in the game, where you can get rewards for completing objectives for people throughout the game. What these Good Deeds are isn’t known initially. There are 26 in the game and can be tracked in your datapad. However, they are blanked out until you discover an item / speak to a person related to it.

Even then, the datapad doesn’t tell you what you need to do, just that you’ve found it. You’ll have to chat to NPCs and use the ‘Trade’ option to look at items you can give to them. There’s no harm in trying them with characters; they’ll tell you that it isn’t for them.

YOU CAN FAIL GOOD DEEDS! So if you find an item you think can go to a character, take your earliest opportunity to do so. Just in case! But, bearing in mind that you may not get the thing you need until you reach another area.

Completing Good Deeds can earn you rewards in one of the areas in Vyssa Hills, the third location in the first main area of the game.

Heart of Gold Good Deed

You’ll start the the Heart of Gold Good Deed in Vyssa Hills. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock Vyssa Hills as a location to visit using the APC. This is likely the third area you’ll visit, after the town of Jova.

From the APC if you follow the road straight forward you’ll likely spot the Timeloop in the distance. You need to collapse this Timeloop to be able to start, and indeed complete, the Heart of Gold Good Deed.

To collapse the Timeloop, kill all the Timeloop Guardians in the area. Killing one will create a prompt on screen, indicating that a Timeloop Guardian has been killed. Killing the final one will give you a noise cue that the Timeloop is now accessible. Additionally, the Timeloop will lose its spikiness.

You’ll also need a Amine Prism to collapse the Timeloop. You will get one in Vyssa Hills once you’ve spoken to the NPC in The Watcher’s Nest. You need to solve the ceramic flowers puzzle to do this.

Timeloop Collapsed, Now What?

Once the Timeloop has cleared you’ll be able to collect the yellow orb that’s left which are the keys to the ON vehicle.

Then what? Well, it’s fairly easy and quick to resolve this Good Deed. You need to give the keys to Atticus Caldwell who you may have already met as you explored Vyssa Hills.

From the Timeloop and item location, head through the wooden structures that lead up a hill.

Follow the route to the left and keep an eye out for a ladder on the left. Head up the ladder and across the wooden bridge. Continue to follow the path around. Ignore the the first left which leads underground. You’ll head down a hill where the road branches to the left and the right.

On the right is the route to the Watcher’s Nest, one of the main objective areas. To the left you’ll find Atticus Caddell. Hand him the keys and he’ll thank you. He’ll also head back to Senedra Forest, to see his father Edward (worth popping back).
