It’s been just over two weeks since ysbryd Games announced the release date for long awaited upcoming project Demonschool. Unfortunately, today they also announced an additional delay to the game. Founder Brian Kwek shared, “Demonschool was set to launch on Sept. 3, but after much anguished consideration on our part, we've made the decision to move the game's release to Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.”
If you are anything like me who has been following this game for the last few years, it may start to feel like Demonschool is too good to be true. Is this just a collective dream that we’ve all made up because it’s the game we want to see released? No one has ever felt this sort of pain with a game right? One that’s been talked about for so long to suddenly have a release date revealed for September 2025 right?
If you haven’t already guessed, this is in part to the release of the hotly anticipated indie game Silksong release. The team at ysbryd has acknowledged that overall, 2025 has been a difficult market to release a game in. Looking back at all of the games that have released and will release this year, it seems like ysbryd is well aware of their situation. How many games have come out this year, be it indie or AAA that have been absolutely fantastic? Gamers are eating well this year. It also means for many there is a limited gaming budget and limited time.
The Good News
The Demonschool delay isn’t all bad news though. Now that the developers over at Necrosoft Games have more time, players can expect more content when the game releases. Now available on launch will be additional endings and minigames that were originally going to be post-release patches. Those who have been following the game know that Necrosoft has been pouring so much into this game. If you played the various demos be it at a con or on Steam, you know how the game continues to become more polished over time. These additional months will only add to it’s growth.
While this is another Demonschool delay, those waiting should be confident this is the last. “Demonschool's release has been delayed before, and we want to be clear: there are no more delays after this point,” shared Kwek. The wait is almost over, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer. Having been hands on with the demo at Pax East, so far, it’s worth it.
Demonschool launches Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. Upon launch it will be available for Steam, Epic Games, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99 USD.
