Any adventuring party has the usual set of tropes. The heavy, the rogue, the spellcaster, the healer. But what about the more…background classes? Also, have you have ever wondered what role a…cook might play in adventuring? If you’re intrigued, then might I present to you Beastro.
Beastro, developed and published by Timberline Studio, dropped their announcement trailer today in conjunction with Gamescom 2025. This will be the second project of this California-based studio, with their first launch being The Red Lantern. This previous production focused on exploration with a dog-sled team and was published by Kepler Interactive.

In the announcement trailer for Beastro, we focus on a fox named Panko, a cook in the town of Palo Pori. Panko, in their efforts to support local adventurers, is seen serving up a variety of dishes. But here’s the really interesting part: these dishes are what provide these adventurers their skills. That’s right! Beastro will be a unique hybrid of a cozy adventure game and a strategic deck-builder!
Two Games in One???
On the cozy side of things in Beastro, you’ll be growing ingredients and gathering resources to craft your meals. Included in this process appears to be a variety of little mini-games that will add to the ambience of being in the kitchen.

Whereas, on the more deck-builder side of the game, you’ll be comboing together the various cards granted to you by the dish lovingly cooked by Panko. Furthermore (and totally unrelated to this aspect of the gameplay), just look at that art style! The combat appears to take the form of little stick puppets that move across the screen.

Beastro will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass at some point during 2026 (no specific time of the year was noted during the announcement). It also appears that we may get an eventual launch to PC via Steam.
