During gamescom Opening Night Live this evening, we got a new look at Silent Hill f, the psychological horror game coming in the legendary series – this time taking place in a frankly horrifying 1960s Japanese setting. We had already witnessed a gory three minute look at gameplay during June's PlayStation State of Play but now it's time to learn about the game's story.
The game is standalone to the series, meanwhile in its country of development, Japan f is the first M-rated Silent Hill game, signalling that this will be true horror experience.
Silent Hill f story trailer
In the trailer, Hinako wakes in a eery dark room and is quickly attacked by nightmarish foes that have featured in previous f trailers. We know that the game will have a heavy focus on melee combat and we see that again today.
Later in the trailer, Hinako travels home to see that the darkness has taken over her home and seems to loom all across her town.
Towards the end of the trailer, a man whispers to Hinako "It must be hard for you to bid farewell to childhood friends" before chilling music sets in and Hinako replies"it had to be done, as soon as I could"; suggesting Hinako has been possessed to do something against her will.
We also now know from the trailer that Suzie Yeung has been voicecast as our lead, Shimizu Hinako.
It’s truly chilling stuff and the Gamer Social Club team are incredibly excited to get their hands on next month.
Silent Hill f releases on September 25 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Players can pre-order now, physical editions are coming for console. There is no mention of a Switch 2 version of the game at this time.
