Well Dweller, a new dark, bizarre, twisted fairy-tale metroidvania, has just been revealed. Published by Top Hat Studios (Labyrinth of the Demon King, MOTORSLICE, Alisa) and developed by Kyle Thompson (Crypt Custodian, Islets, Sheepo), the game is launching on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2026.

Described in a press release that went out today, Well Dweller has you play as Glimmer, a tiny bird armed with a matchstick, who must burn the wicked queen to save his family before they become part of her royal gown.
“Venture forth into a whimsical but morbid fairy-tale landscape, and battle terrifying beasts whilst gaining new abilities to expand your world. Discover secrets, mysteries, and the riddles that rot in the underbelly of this wretched queendom.”
Gamers can look forward to traversing a hand-illustrated medieval-style fairytale world, where every nook and cranny could hide a trinket, the very key to your survival, or something far more deadly. Encounter a cast of charming characters just trying to make their way in the world of the wicked queen; new friends just waiting to be met.
Help Glimmer face off against a collection of horrifying beasts, overcome monumental challenges, find all his siblings, and become the most unlikely of heroes!
As the next game coming from the partnership of Kyle Thompson and Top Hat Studios, the very same duo that brought us the critically acclaimed metroidvania Crypt Custodian in 2024, you can be sure the GSC will be keeping a wary eye on Well Dweller!
