When we first saw Dead Take last month we figured it would be a late 2025 release. Developer Surgent Studios just released Tales Of Kenzera: Zau last year so surely it would take some time right? Well apparently not as today the studio announced a release date that is right around the corner.
Dead Take will be coming to PC on July 31st. That's right, 2 weeks from today PC players will be able to hop into this mysterious new game with its star studded voice cast.
The game is described as a twisty psychological horror game that is inspired from creative director Abubakar Salim’s own experiences in the acting industry. It is said to show a darker side of the entertainment industry.

Players will enter a mysterious mansion searching for fellow actor Vinny who has seemingly vanished after a party. Gameplay is to be a bunch of escape room type puzzles. Players will also need to splice together video clips to help them find Vinny.
Star Studded Cast
Additionally with today's release date announcement, Surgent announced more voice actors set to reprise roles. While we already knew Ben Starr and Neil Newborn would reprise the 2 leads, Vinny Monroe and Chase Lowry, we got a fair amount of new names as well.
Most notably Jane Perry (Hitman, Baldur’s Gate 3) and Alanah Pearce (Cyberpunk 2077, V/H/S/Beyond) will be portraying unspecified characters in Dead Take. They appear to be voice acting the 2 characters that aren't the leads.

Also making cameos will be Sam Lake, Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, and CDawgVA. Considering the game is about actors it only makes sense that the game brought in some of the best. Salim spoke on the incredible voice cast saying:
“Dead Take is about actors. So we need actors who’ve lived it. It's a game about the high of ambition and the rot underneath it. The lies we tell ourselves to get in the spotlight, and the monsters we become to stay there. Everyone in this cast has felt that pressure. This was a chance to bleed it out.”
We also got a new trailer for the game showing off its mechanics and gives us a glimpse at Jane Parry in the game for the first time. You can see the trailer below.
Dead Take launches July 31st on Steam and Epic Games Store. There is no word yet on any console plans.
