Avast, me hearties! Some new plunder has become available in Sea of Thieves, Rare’s multiplayer pirate adventure game, and it bears a striking resemblance to a certain Xbox 1st party title releasing today. That’s right! Sea of Thieves is celebrating the launch day of Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight with a fresh set of themed sails!
The announcement was made via the Sea of Thieves social media accounts, stating the “Sails of Woven Wonders” can be unlocked for free by players setting sail between today, April 8th, and next Tuesday on April 15th.

For those who may not be aware, South of Midnight is the new 3rd person action/adventure game from Xbox studio Compulsion Games, the developers of Contrast and We Happy Few. The game follows protagonist Hazel on a gothic journey through the Deep South to find her mother. On her way, she will encounter many extraordinary creatures and characters, based on the region’s rich folklore, and learn how to wield her new powers as a Weaver.
You can read our South of Midnight review for our full thoughts on the game, as well as a host of guides to help you on your journey.
It brings a smile to this old seadog’s face to see Rare continuing to celebrate the released games of their fellow studios, and hopefully there will be more to come (fingers crossed for an Avowed-themed set)! Bear in mind, readers, there is only a week to pick up the “Sails of Woven Wonders”, so act fast before they are gone for good!
