After receiving huge positive feedback and generating lots of buzz with their announcement trailer back in October 2024, Vertpaint Studios have released a new trailer for their upcoming horror game, Ritual Tides.
The new trailer offers players a chance to see behind-the-scenes of the game’s development. “In this documentary-esque reveal,” reads the press release, “viewers are candidly treated to a visual spectacle and a never-before-seen peek behind the drapes of Ritual Tides. With offering glimpses of the eerily stunning landscapes and its grotesque inhabitants, it’s clear that this impending horror will both stun and leave players in awe of its beautifully gruesome exterior.”
Ritual Tides is slated to release in Q3 of this year on PC with consoles following after, and is aiming to be “the most realistic game of 2025”.
The CEO and Creative Director of Vertpaint Studios, James MacLeod, had a great deal to say about the team, their ethos, and vision for Ritual Tides.
“We want to prove to audiences that what matters is the dedication, love and respect a team has for its project and vision, and we’re crafting a game we genuinely want to play,” said James. “We trademarked the name years ago and turned down big offers to chase this dream.”
“The game is exceedingly dark, we’re not pulling any punches. Not everyone will like what it is we’re aiming towards, and that is both to be expected and embraced.”
“We hope that players can instantly spot the difference between our game and one churned out just to rack up sales.”
It is clear from what James has said that the team are completely dedicated to the game they want to make, and have no intention of making any compromises with Ritual Tides. “We’ve made big claims,” admits James, and it won’t be too long before fans will be able to see for themselves.
