Amongst all the announcements at today’s PlayStation State of Play, we saw the trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater that leaked less than a week ago. While it does take the excitement out of the spot and August 28th release date, what was surprising was that we got a second trailer for the game after the showcase!
The showcase trailer ends with a quick teaser referencing the classic “Snake versus Moneky” mode that was in the original MGS3, featuring the cheeky apes from Ape Escape. With the game having a multiplatform release, this has led to questions as to whether the Xbox version of the game would come with this mode, seeing as how Ape Escape is a 1st party PlayStation IP. Konami has the answer, coming in the form of a second trailer posted to their official YouTube channel after the State of Play.

The video’s description helps clear any confusion up.
“The special game "Snake vs Monkey" to capture the Pipo Monkeys is back for PS5® and Steam®! A different special game will be implemented for the Xbox version! Please wait for further details.”
Spolier warning for those who haven’t worked it out yet: it looks like Snake is going up against another of Konamu’s most beloved IPs – Bomberman! It has been great to see the publisher sharing the love out amongst its franchises; we really are living during a new golden age of Komani.
With the game releasing in August, I imagine we will get another trailer showcasing this new game mode for Xbox fans. Let’s just hope they don’t keep us waiting!
