In a new quick-fire interview with YouTube channel, Minnmax, Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel confirmed that Avowed will run at up to 60fps on Xbox Series X. Whilst the interviewer’s question was specifically for the Series X, it remains unclear whether Series S will match the level of performance.
First-party games launching with a 60fps option has become something of an issue for Xbox Series consoles with key titles Starfield and Redfall having launched with 30fps caps. With Avowed being a combat heavy first-person RPG, the ability to wield a variety of swords, guns and spells at a smoother frame rate will be welcomed.

During the interview, Patel shared many further details about the game ahead of its imminent launch:
- Players can start a new game after they roll credits, with a point of no return shortly before the end game
- If players put “a high level of points into dexterity you will be very fast at everything which feels fantastic”
- Patel neither confirmed nor denied that Avowed will come to PlayStation 5
- There will be no microtransactions
- The game is similar in scope to The Outer Worlds
- DLC is a “maybe”
- The game will feature multiple endings encouraging players to play multiple times
Avowed is one of the Xbox Game Studios’ biggest releases of the year and the first of the two big RPG launches with the Fable reboot expected to launch later in 2025. Developed by RPG veterans Obsidian Entertainment _ developers of the iconic Fallout New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity and more – players can expect vast branching dialogue trees and game altering decisions. The game takes place in the universe of Pillars of Eternity and Patel confirmed that there will be character cameos in Avowed.
Avowed launches on Xbox and PC, including Game Pass on February 18th 2025. GSC are thrilled to be reviewing the game and can’t wait to share our thoughts with you.
