Developer People Can Fly, who first made a name for themselves with Gears Of War: Judgment are back working on the franchise for the first time in more than a decade.

Gears Of War: E-Day is the next game in the series and today the developer announced that it is working in support of Gears developer The Coalition to bring the game to life as a co-developer.
“People Can Fly is thrilled to be working on Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline game in the renowned Gears of War series, as a co-development partner with The Coalition.” the statement reads.
What’s Old Is New Again
People Can Fly were co-developers on the first 3 games in the Gears Of War series before getting a chance to take the lead on Judgement. Despite Judgement being labelled as the worst of the franchise it still was a fairly good game. The studio then went on to develop the fantastic Bulletstorm as well as Outriders.

“Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love. We are deeply grateful for our partners’ trust and support on this journey” _ says PCF’s CEO, Sebastian Wojciechowski.
It will mark the first time People Can Fly will work with The Coalition.
“Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic. We’re pleased to be partnering with the talented folks at People Can Fly who have been a part of our franchise’s legacy for so long.” _ Mike Crump, Studio Head, The Coalition.
This news comes after the developer said they had cancelled Project Dagger, an unannounced action RPG last year. The studio was also said to be working on a AAA game for Xbox Game Studios. Whether that is a different project or E-Day that is unclear, but I’d guess it is E-Day.
