World’s Edge, the Xbox Studio that has been in fostering the Age of Empires and Age of Mythology IPs, have been hard at work keeping history and legends alive. Releasing the very well received Age of Mythology: Retold (check out our review HERE) little over a month ago, the RTS-centric studio have just announced Chronicles: Battle for Greece, an expansion to their first game, Age of Empires II: DE.
Along with posting the news to all their socials, the team have released a trailer showing off some of what AoE fans have to look forward to:
The Chronicles: Battle for Greece expansion brings the Achaemenids, Athenians, and Spartans as new playable civilizations as well as a narrative, 21-scenario campaign with animated cutscenes. The accompanying description states:
“Created by a team of Age of Empires veterans, the visual rework includes 55 land unit models, 19 naval unit models and 85 building models across three new civilizations. Innovative gameplay including a unique naval combat system, special civilization mechanics, and mutually-exclusive technologies make this epic journey a must-play for strategy lovers and history enthusiasts alike.”

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
Since the studio’s establishment in 2019 (which was the same year they released Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on PC), World’s Edge have done a great deal to prove they are the right custodians for these historic IPs. In the space of five years they have released fives games, including AoE III: Definitive Edition and AoE IV, and done full console ports to Xbox for the definitive editions of AoE II and III.
In a separate part of the description, Chronicles: Battle for Greece is described as an “inaugural chapter in a multipart saga”, making it very clear that it is just the first of several expansions the dev team have lined up. Looks like World’s Edge will be keeping RTS fans and history buffs happy for the foreseeable future.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Chronicles: Battle for Greece is coming November 14 to Xbox and PC.
